Bill Hennessy

Mr Hennessy was a strong advocate of improvements in end-of-life care in Ireland.  His decision to champion the reform of how dying patients and their families are treated and supported was prompted by the end-of-life experience of his late wife Carmel.

He actively engaged in the work of the Hospice Friendly Hospitals Programme which aims to put hospice principles into hospital practice and contributed in a very impactful way to material such as an educational DVD for healthcare staff.
