What Course is this Scholarship For?

A new MSc in End-of-Life Healthcare Ethics has been developed at University College Cork with the first intake of students planned for Autumn 2011.

The course (offered jointly by the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Medicine and Philosophy and Sociology in UCC) is designed such that students may exit the MSc End-of-Life Healthcare Ethics with a Postgraduate Certificate (30 credits) or a Postgraduate Diploma (60 credits) in End-of-Life Healthcare Ethics.

The MSc links to ‘An Ethical Framework for End-of-Life Care’, and associated study guides launched in October 2010 by the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF). Commissioned through the Hospice Friendly Hospitals programme (www.hospicefriendlyhospitals.net ), the project was developed by the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Faculty of Law in UCC and by the Faculty of Nursing and the Department of General Practice in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
